Offer all praise for summer.
Why?
The sun is high,
Gifting warmer weather.
The gardens are full
Bursting with colour.
Living is more easy,
Holiday time will arrive early on
Prior to the cooling off of autumn,
And the season for days of praise
In the woodland colour especially,
But that is a story for days to follow!
Summer is the season,
Of vigour for flowers and us!
Richness of plants surround us,
Abound in their pink and peach, reach their zenith,
Blue and white a most glorious refreshing sight.
Yellows are always sunny, an especially happy shade.
Oranges with purple, make a striking bold contrast.
Red in scarlet, poppy and crimson are always pleasing.
White is stunning, always standing out clearly.
And of course, verdant green fills to overflowing the scene.
We see the garden sights to our delight glowing,
Then excitement uplifts our soul and spirit.
It is similar to the feelings we inherit in faith.
Faith is an exciting adventure learning to trust.
We must trust in the goodness of God,
Slowly, gradually, but consistently unfolding.
Now surely we can see the similarity
With all that happens in the summer garden?
The wide variety of each and every God made shade,
Open up before us petal by unfolding petal,
Until summer has no equal in the expanse,
The thrilling dance of garden colour.
Therefore as we glimpse at such glory,
God’s story of time moving forwards,
Surely we should offer all thanks and praise for summer.
A season which is ever a clear winner,
In the stakes for competitive favour,
With of course, every best reason.
Yes, amaze and offer praise.
Not only is this the correct way to frequently pray,
Praise as a prayerful focus uplifts us,
Our mood then better suited to happiness,
Which is of course, a gift of God’s goodness in itself.
Oh the happiness we can experience now,
Here this day, especially as we pray in mid season.
Yes, lots to rejoice in, so begin to
Offer all praise for summer, time’s stunner!
O Lord, there is so much to praise You for in summer and then praise in its turn uplifts, encourages and spurs on our happiness. How wonderful is the way You work. Thank You for every aspect of Your love which touche us, especially our faith, so exciting an adventure in learning to trust. We learn to look for and find Your glory. Amen.
